Pretty quite on here lately. - Hope it is a lack of reporting instead a lack of fish.

We had just a quick trip last evening from 6-8.  Finished 2-3, one legal stocker and one under, both browns.

Set up off Round House Point and trolled towards towers. Lost a fish behind the boat right at barrier. Hit DW Mooncricket at 47.  Worked our way up the north side of the big water and up the mouth about a 1/3 mile before turning. 100 CU on the fast side with speeding up to make turn finally went off with a mini streak Eriedesent.  Thought that maybe they wanted if faster, then the rigger with Mooncricket pops after we slowed to fight the first fish.  Just continued to pull lines after that and headed in.

Sounds like it's a dead sea anymore. I believe I'll go down Thursday to get the camper and call it quits there for a few years. I agree with others on other forms that scdnr isnot doing a good job for the trout. They have turn joc into a bass lake which is what they want to do deep down. IF it does ever turn around I may head back, but not untill then. Looking forward to the next trout trollers tournament. Hopefully I can make it to chillhowee, Fontana, nantahala, Soho, and back to watauga. See you there Evans.

You mentioned that SCDNR is not doing a good job. What do you think is happening to the lack of trout. Is DNR stocking their normal quota or have they reduced that amount. I used to catch my limit almost every time I fished Jocassee several years back. My last 4 outings have not even produced one trout. .I don't normally bass fish but it looks like there is little choice.  RayO

Ray I agree. Trout are declining. I myself can not say why. Maybe it's cause the spots, the loons, maybe stripers have gotten in there. I just feel that to help catch rates of trout, larger fish must be stocked. That being said I believe it will for sure be a put and take fishery. Maybe it's time to write joc off as a trout lake and try something different.

It's unfortunate that the lake has declined as much as it has for catching trout. The lake was very productive years back and it should be able to get that way again. This would require that SCDNR make a conscious effort.to develop programs and regulations to help improve the trout fishing in this lake.

I don't understand why they can't add a trout stamp to license to help stock larger fish. Maybe we can pull together and have a GoFundMe page for trout stocking on joc. I would add a fair amount to help out. I'm sure others would to. The joc store should add some back as they keep a large share of the tournament entry, which is going to decline and decease if something isn't done.

The Cabin Fever will set sail approx 19:00hrs Thursday, found an afternoon hot spot towards the dam we will hit, stay near that area Thursday night. Thinking about trolling the upper side of the big water over to WW for Friday. We'll see what we find, may head up to the 3 rivers for Sat. Tight Lines all.
